Join Us for PuppetPalooza 2024!

Join us at ImaginOn on Saturday, February 3, 2024 from 10:00am-4:30pm for our first puppetry festival! PuppetPalooza 2024 will be an all-day, non-stop, FREE, family-friendly event celebrating the joy and art of puppetry, and all ages are welcome.  Participating puppetry troops include Center for Puppetry Arts, Charlotte Mecklenburg Library Frontline Puppeteers, Children's Theatre of Charlotte, Ed's Dinosaurs Live, Grey Seal Puppets, Jeghetto Entertainment, The Lurnsters, Ms. Melanie Puppetry, and Sigmon Theatrical.

Beat the summer heat with free fun indoor children's entertainment at ImaginOn! Celebrate Charlotte Mecklenburg Library's annual Summer Break program and encourage your children to continue learning and reading this summer in a series of Super Saturdays!

Summer Exhibit: “Framed: Step into Art”

Step inside the framework of famous paintings and experience art like never before in “Framed: Step into Art,” opening at ImaginOn: The Joe and Joan Martin Center on May 20 through Sept. 3. Children and adults can enjoy a robust noontime meal in Grant Wood’s “Dinner for Threshers,” climb into a tent and explore camping gear in John Singer Sargent’s “Camp at Lake O’Hara,” add corn husks to the flower tower in Diego Rivera’s “Corn Festival” and enter Clementine Hunter’s “Big Chicken” to get behind the reins of a giant rooster.

Summer Exhibit: Some Assembly Required

Charlotte Mecklenburg Library is excited to announce the return of summer exhibits to ImaginOn: The Joe & Joan Martin Center located in Uptown Charlotte at 300 East 7th Street. Some Assembly Required, created in partnership with Build-A-Bear Workshop, Inc., kicks off Saturday, May 28, 2022 and will run through Saturday September 3, 2022. It is important to note this is NOT a Build-A-Bear workshop and no custom bears will be made.
